Precision Vault Solution for a Rotated Lens

It is satisfying when a scleral fit orients on an eye as designed. Unfortunately, that isn’t always the case. For one reason or another corneoscleral profile data can be erroneous and the lens will follow the path of least resistance and settle where it will. Fortunately, so long as the misorientation is consistent, fitting issues can be overcome.

Post RK, this patient’s left lens consistently settled 58 degrees counterclockwise which resulted in significant bearing on nasal and temporal pingueculas. Using Gaudi’s Precision Vault feature, we were able to specify where we wanted the vaults, including how wide and how deep, taking lens rotation into account. The vaults aligned as predicted resulting in a comfortable fit.
